Left Trigger Right Trigger

Join us every other week as we convene the 'video game book club.' Each episode is structured around a topic: anything from 'Trust' to 'Robots' to 'Body Parts'. Listen in as your hosts each bring a game to the table that they think exemplifies that topic in some way. Give us a shot and remember, games are just metaphors.

Dear friends,

We are gathered here to pay our respects as we banish 2017 back to the land of wind and ghosts. In this retrospective episode we examine the year in detail and each of your hosts brings forward a game that symbolizes their experience of 2017. Giovanni looks for the one positive outcome of this trash year. Colin vows to keep moving forward. Dave takes a moment to find calm. Greg works through some things.

For real though: we get into some heavy stuff. Here's your content warning for grief, depression, and mentions of cancer and lost loved ones.

Also: Thank you to all our listeners, families, and friends for supporting us in making this project. We appreciate all of you. We hope we can help make the next year a great one for everyone.

As always, please review us on Apple Podcasts, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and watch us on YouTube. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

Games discussed include Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, Super Mario Odyssey, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

2017 is nearly over and that means it's time to party down as we slam dunk this garbage year straight to hell! All things party adjacent and tangential get covered in this episode: arcades, barcades, Dave & Buster's, Charles Entertainment Cheese, and Charles Entertainment Cheese ripoffs that scar children for life. There's also some talk about video games, deleting scripts as people try to read them, and realtime ASMR directed at one host of the show. It's our narrowest of narrowcast episodes ever! We're sorry!

If you'd like to vent your frustrations, head over to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review! You can also scream at us on Facebook and Twitter, or you can downvote our videos on YouTube

Games discussed include X-Men Arcade, 1-2-Switch, The Wonderful 101, and Chroma Squad

It's a very happy and demented Thanksgiving special here on Left Trigger Right Trigger. "Food" is the topic at hand, but you probably wouldn't know it from the discussion in this episode. Giovanni finds a slug on his ceiling and freaks out. Greg spends half the episode watching movie trailers. Colin admits to eating human beings. Dave pitches a new Wario franchise. All of them confess to committing various food-related crimes. It's a wild episode, but one worth listening to if only for the last 45 seconds.

We at Left Trigger Right Trigger wish all our U.S. listeners a Happy Thanksgiving!

If we haven't scared you away, you can write us a very special review on Apple Podcasts (use the codeword we mentioned and we'll read it on the next episode.) You put your headphones on your head and turn on your favorite podcast app. When you hit play, the mellifluous voices of nerds fills your ears. "Choice" is the topic at hand: who will you listen to first? Will it be Dave, the spookiest host? He questions the value of choice when the rewards are always the same. Maybe you'll go with Greg, the drunkest host? Listen to him explore the pressures of how we choose to spend our time playing games. Or there's Giovanni, the longest host. He interrogates the moral lessons of choice in certain games. Lastly, you might go with Colin, the leftist host. He talks about monsters for some reason. To listen to this podcast, jump ahead to second fifteen. There, your adventure begins!

If you're still convinced you have free will, why not exercise it by stopping by Apple Podcasts and giving us a review?  You can watch us grapple with existential doubt on Facebook and Twitter. Welcome, dear listeners, to the spookiest episode yet! Dapper tentacle monster Andrew Zucosky joins the crew to discuss "Horror" in videogames. Mad scientist Greg puts his latest experiment on display. Beppo, the murder clown, comes for your blood. The ghost of Young Sheldon (Praise Be) blesses us with his terrible dreams. Scary Maguire stops in to reanimate jokes that died over two decades ago. It's a real massacre from bloody start to bloody end.

If you're still alive (or dead, but capable of typing) please take a moment to write us a spooky review on Apple Podcasts. You can also follow us straight to the grave on Facebook and Twitter. He is Risen! The boy-king Sheldon has arrived and a new age is upon us! All shall quiver at the recitation of his holy word: Bazinga! The hosts discuss "Luck" in this episode, but we all know luck is irrelevant when Young Sheldon walks beside us. Giovanni explores the world of mobile games, now irrelevant since all people will be streaming episodes of Young Sheldon during their commute. Dave discusses his conflicted relationship with Mario Party, especially since now the real party is taking place every week on CBS. Greg dives into esports, the only type of sports allowed under the new Bazinga Code of Law. Colin talks about the whims of fate, which were fortunate enough to bring us his holy countenance. Sheldon be praised.

Please take a moment to praise Young Sheldon on Apple Podcasts. Let us know that you've followed the holy scriptures by writing "Bazinga" on our Facebook and Twitter. Subscribe to our YouTube Channel, where we will only post reruns of Young Sheldon from here on.

Games discussed include Candy Crush, Mario Party, Hearthstone, and Hand of Fate.

WARNING: This episode, in which the boys discuss the topic of "Excess," contains lewd content in the form of a pug that distracts Colin by performing lascivious acts on a pillow. No pugs, pillows, or hosts were harmed in the making of this podcast. Also, it turned into an anime podcast in the last five minutes. No one is sure how that happened. Listen in as Dave explores the controversy around golden poop, Colin talks about murder, Giovanni makes some type of point about Batman, and Greg also talks about murder. We apologize to the following individuals and groups for this episode: 1) Our significant others 2) Anime fans 3) Shrek.

If you feel like you have an excess of praise and need to let it out, you can do that by reviewing us on Apple Podcasts. If that doesn't satisfy you, fell free to also like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to our YouTube Channel

Games discussed include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Hyrule Warriors, Batman: Arkham Knight, and God of War.

"What is this, a crossover episode?" That's exactly what it is! Settle in for this aural  Reese's Cup as the hosts discuss the topic of "Crossovers" in video games. Get lost in the decadent mint chocolate chip flavor of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Crack into the sweet and salty combo of Battletoads & Double Dragon. Struggle to gulp down the Turducken of Yu-Gi-Oh! card mechanics just straight up crammed into every game they can think of! Also, this episode was apparently sponsored by Canada Dry. "Canada Dry: We'll See You in Court!"

Friend of the show Josh Perault from Taking Initiative joins the boys as they finally wriggle free of Double-O August with this episode's topic: "Hooks."

You won't have to go fishing for good content in this one! Giovanni casts off the show by addressing his puzzle game addiction. Josh follows that line and pulls in a prize-winning discussion on exploration in games. Greg recounts how one game baited him into nearly ruining his life. Colin bobs into the conversation with some crooked game practices. Dave explains how if you give your dad a ball, he fills the sky with one star; if you teach your dad to roll balls, he messes it up anyway.

We're little fish in a big pond right now. You can really help us grow up to be plump and tasty by writing us a review on Apple Podcasts. Shake out those pellets into our waiting mouths by liking us on Facebook. Help us return home to spawn by following us on Twitter. We might die being eaten by a bear, but that's all the more reason for you to subscribe to our YouTube Channel

The hellacious "joke" of Double-O August continues, this time covering the topic of "Books."

Books: what are they? How do people use them? How can they be stopped? These are all terrible questions that go unanswered in this (very quiet) episode, recorded on-location in a library (SHHH!!). Rather than provide practical advice on how to defend yourself from rogue librarians, the hosts cover essential talking points when discussing Books in the context of video games. Greg admits to reading novelizations of Magic: The Gathering and everyone just lets it slide. Colin talks about Spawn: The Movie for no reason. Dave makes a good reference to the classic film Cool Runnings and Giovanni is confused by John Candy. Books!

We hear if you write us a review on Apple Podcasts then the library will waive your late fees. They'll also move you up on the waiting list for that new book you want to read if you like LTRT on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

Games discussed include Halo: Reach, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, Stories: The Path of Destinies, and Spelunky.
