Left Trigger Right Trigger

Join us every other week as we convene the 'video game book club.' Each episode is structured around a topic: anything from 'Trust' to 'Robots' to 'Body Parts'. Listen in as your hosts each bring a game to the table that they think exemplifies that topic in some way. Give us a shot and remember, games are just metaphors.

The 64th episode of LTRT means we take a deep dive into everyone's favorite numerically-named console: the Nintendo 64 (take that Microsoft). We're joined by special guest Jeremy Kaplowitz: Editor-in-Chief of Hard Drive, Host of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Show, and Campaign Manager for the Ace Watkins Presidential Campaign.

Tune in for a meandering discussion on all things Nintendo 64. Dave laments the lost mascot platformers of days past. Greg insists on playing slappers only. Giovanni sells us all on that one Star Fox game no one remembers liking. Colin makes some weird point about neoliberalism. Jeremy weighs in on the impact of Super Smash Bros. on games in general.

As always you can follow all of Left Trigger Right Trigger and friends on Facebook, Twitter (@LTRTCast), and Instagram. We also occasionally put up videos on YouTube and Twitch. And remember - if you give us a like and review on Apple Podcasts, we'll be forever grateful.

Games discussed include Star Fox 64, GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, Mario Kart 64, and Super Smash Bros.

Dave posits a new theory of hat-based psychological development. Colin admits to minor, hat-related fashion crimes. Giovanni's gonna to make it after all [throws hat in air].

This episode tries to sneak around... but it's dummy thicc and the clap of its special guest keeps alerting the guards! Tom Zalatnai from Up For Discussion (@DownWithTalking) joins the usual crew for an extra long, extra honest episode discussing "Stealth" in videogames. Tom plays a bit of a stealth ARG in real life. Giovanni asks an important question about why stealth mechanics feel so forced. Dave gets into the mental games inherent in stealth multiplayer. Colin talks about using moss to choke people. Greg has two... thrones...
