Left Trigger Right Trigger

Join us every other week as we convene the 'video game book club.' Each episode is structured around a topic: anything from 'Trust' to 'Robots' to 'Body Parts'. Listen in as your hosts each bring a game to the table that they think exemplifies that topic in some way. Give us a shot and remember, games are just metaphors.

Listeners - here we are at the end 2021. As we've done since 2017, here is our very special episode to send off the year and greet the new year with renewed energy. These episodes always turn into a bit of a therapy session for your four co-hosts, and this year is no exception. We get honest, and open up about some of the issues we've faced over the last twelve months. Also we need $250,000 on Patreon in order to take out a New York Times ad. Thank you in advance for helping get us there.

In this episode - Giovanni feels like he's stuck in a time loop. David reflects on the tedium and difficulty of putting his life into boxes. Tess struggles with the fact that gaming has become an inadequate coping mechanism. Greg invents a knife that cooks food as you cut it.

As always, a huge, huge thank you to our patrons. Your support means the world to us. If you want to become a patron (and get access to some exclusive podcasts) you can sign up at patreon.com/LTRT.  If you don't have the cash to support us right now you can always leave us a review on your podcatcher of choice.

Maybe you should head over to lefttriggerrighttrigger.com to find all our social media and other content!!

Games discussed include: Returnal, Slipways, Unpacking, Halo 2

Voice - the medium on which this and so many other types of content depend. It has the power to soothe and anger, sway and shame, enrapture and condemn. Also sometimes it causes ASMR, along with some like... crinkly plastic? Unfortunately for you, dear listeners, this episode only briefly delves into mukbang territory. This is "Voice" - we hope you enjoy!

In this episode - Giovanni does his best Bubsy impression. David tells you about his favorite store on the citadel. Tess has a hard time saying colors. Greg is replaced with his vocal understudy, Grag.

Show notes:

Is voice acting always the best option, or are some games better without it? - Samuel James Riley, Games Radar
