Left Trigger Right Trigger

Join us every other week as we convene the 'video game book club.' Each episode is structured around a topic: anything from 'Trust' to 'Robots' to 'Body Parts'. Listen in as your hosts each bring a game to the table that they think exemplifies that topic in some way. Give us a shot and remember, games are just metaphors.

"What is this, a crossover episode?" That's exactly what it is! Settle in for this aural  Reese's Cup as the hosts discuss the topic of "Crossovers" in video games. Get lost in the decadent mint chocolate chip flavor of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Crack into the sweet and salty combo of Battletoads & Double Dragon. Struggle to gulp down the Turducken of Yu-Gi-Oh! card mechanics just straight up crammed into every game they can think of! Also, this episode was apparently sponsored by Canada Dry. "Canada Dry: We'll See You in Court!"

Friend of the show Josh Perault from Taking Initiative joins the boys as they finally wriggle free of Double-O August with this episode's topic: "Hooks."

You won't have to go fishing for good content in this one! Giovanni casts off the show by addressing his puzzle game addiction. Josh follows that line and pulls in a prize-winning discussion on exploration in games. Greg recounts how one game baited him into nearly ruining his life. Colin bobs into the conversation with some crooked game practices. Dave explains how if you give your dad a ball, he fills the sky with one star; if you teach your dad to roll balls, he messes it up anyway.

We're little fish in a big pond right now. You can really help us grow up to be plump and tasty by writing us a review on Apple Podcasts. Shake out those pellets into our waiting mouths by liking us on Facebook. Help us return home to spawn by following us on Twitter. We might die being eaten by a bear, but that's all the more reason for you to subscribe to our YouTube Channel

The hellacious "joke" of Double-O August continues, this time covering the topic of "Books."

Books: what are they? How do people use them? How can they be stopped? These are all terrible questions that go unanswered in this (very quiet) episode, recorded on-location in a library (SHHH!!). Rather than provide practical advice on how to defend yourself from rogue librarians, the hosts cover essential talking points when discussing Books in the context of video games. Greg admits to reading novelizations of Magic: The Gathering and everyone just lets it slide. Colin talks about Spawn: The Movie for no reason. Dave makes a good reference to the classic film Cool Runnings and Giovanni is confused by John Candy. Books!

We hear if you write us a review on Apple Podcasts then the library will waive your late fees. They'll also move you up on the waiting list for that new book you want to read if you like LTRT on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and subscribe to our YouTube Channel.

Games discussed include Halo: Reach, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, Stories: The Path of Destinies, and Spelunky.

Strap in for the launch of "Double-O August," (Augoost?) a special month full of topics with two Os in them. "Why are they doing this?" you might ask, to which we will reply "Doon't yoou mean, 'why are they dooing this?'"

We're kicking off this "moonth" with a discussion on "Loot." Greg goes over some of the pitfalls of the "Loot 'n Shoot" genre. Giovanni talks about how we can get trapped in a loot loop. Dave divulges his addiction to Diablo 3. Colin just wants to invite you over for a meal or whatever you need. C'mon over, it'll be fun.

Did you know you can boost your chances of getting those rare drops just by writing us a review on Apple Podcasts? It's true! And you can double and triple those chances by liking LTRT on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and subscribing to our YouTube Channel.

Games discussed include Borderlands, Titanfall 2, Diablo 3, and Dungeons.

Welcome to the official launch of season two of Left Trigger Right Trigger! We're cranking the drama up to eleven! Friends become enemies! Enemies become lovers! Acquaintances become... well actually they mostly stay the same. Listen in as the podcast you know and love breaks under the pressure of this episode's topic: "Competition." Colin attempts to explain how Smogon University works. Dave struggles with the anxiety of constantly comparing himself to other gamers. Greg makes a horrifying metaphor about the growing e-sports scene. Giovanni tries (and mostly fails) to lift everyone's spirits. We're only 30 brutal beheadings away from being the podcast equivalent of Game of Thrones. Give us a listen, won't you?

Here's a little side competition: whoever writes us the best review on iTunes will win Dave. You can just have him. Imagine that... a Dave of one's own. Also, don't forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (@LTRTcast) We'd love to hear from you.

Games discussed include Pokémon X and Y, Destiny, Overwatch, and Super Monkey Ball.

After last episode's bombshell announcement, we decided to follow up with a theme that involves actual bombs! Revolution is the topic at hand. Whether that means Dance Dancing yourself to fitness or pursuing prisoner 24601 until you jump off a bridge (for whatever reason) we've got all the game discussion you need for this independence day. You know what they say: If we can't [play video games] it's not our revolution! Give us a listen and Happy Independence Day to our listeners who celebrate that sort of thing.

Have you done your patriotic duty and reviewed us on iTunes? It'll help us grow and continue to improve the show. And don't forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter at @LTRTCast. Let us know what you think, won't you?

Dave and Greg are going to E3! Follow LTRT on Twitter for all our updates during "The Wrestlemania of Video Games."

The Electronic Entertainment Expo hangs over us like the Sword of Damocles. Listen in as the boys discuss memorable moments from past expos and try to draw life lessons from years of watching the biggest (and weirdest) video game event of the year. What treasures (horrors?) will E3 2017 gift (unleash upon?) the world? Monopoly for the Nintendo Switch? A reboot of the Kane & Lynch Franchise? Digital Pogs? Shenmue Four?? There's only a little cynicism in this episode.

If you want to share your expectations (or concerns) for E3 2017 or demand an official "Shame Dave" T-shirt you can do that at the Left Trigger Right Trigger Facebook page or tweet at us @LTRTCast. Try using the hashtag #LTRTCast to find other fans!

That podcast you like is going to come back in style. Nostalgia is the theme, chosen by special guest Adam Ellerson (ADAM ELLERSON.) Strap on those rose-colored glasses for a trip down memory lane as these five adults recount their formative experiences around games. Adam (ADAM ELLERSON) explores the use of nostalgia as a marketing tool. Greg reveals how he became a virtual pinball wizard. Colin sniffs out some connections between olfactory memory and games. Giovanni realizes that the things we once loved might not be so great nowadays. Dave gives us yet another reason to be in court.

If you want to send Dave your support (or shame him publicly) you can do that at the Left Trigger Right Trigger Facebook page or tweet at us @LTRTCast. And try using the hashtag #LTRTCast to find other fans!

Games discussed include 3D Pinball Space Cadet, Baldur's Gate, Torment: Tides of Numenera, the Donkey Kong franchise, and Kingdom Hearts.

If you survive the trip, let us know your thoughts at the Left Trigger Right Trigger Facebook page or tweet at us @LTRTCast.

Games discussed include Portal, Yoshi's Island, Kirby Mass Attack, and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
